Our website uses four primary categories of news. I would like to set up the highlighter to display one headline from each of the four categories at once.

If you look at your demo page . . .
    http://www.dnnui.com/Modules/NewsAr...rDemo.aspx

. . . that's how I would like to see the headlines displayed on our site with each line representing a different category which pulls different headlines from that category.

    For example:

PRODUCT NEWS:  Here's the latest product story
INDUSTRY NEWS:  Here's the latest press release
WIRE SERVICES: Here's the latest wire service story

How can I do that?  Would I have to install four instances of the module? Or can the template be modified to do this?

    Yes,

You need to add 4 instances of module to page and configure each one separately.
